Job Overview:
Lancet Laboratories invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the role of Admin Clerk / Receptionist at its KZN – PMB branch. The successful candidate will ensure efficient processing, registration, and distribution of medical specimens and facilitate excellent customer service, in line with the organization’s service objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sample Processing:
- Sort and distribute samples according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Register (“log”) and process queries related to samples.
- Dispatch specimens for laboratory processing and ensure compliance with turnaround times.
- Administrative Support:
- Track courier sample deliveries and ensure timely specimen receipt and result reporting.
- Investigate bottlenecks in pre-analytical processes and resolve challenges.
- Handle administrative queries, complaints, and customer feedback promptly.
- Customer Service:
- Manage reception area and direct clients to appropriate departments.
- Collect cash payments and manage banking procedures per SOPs.
- Represent Lancet professionally by applying principles of customer care.
- Operational Duties:
- Monitor and replenish stock levels, ensuring materials are available for operations.
- Perform hospital rounds for sample collection and report distribution.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in the working area and ensure equipment is clean.
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Report incidents, log complaints, and update tasks using the laboratory information management system.
- Scan patient forms into the system and resolve scanning issues.
- Adhere to Lancet’s uniform and dress code protocols.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
- Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 qualification (required).
- BSc Degree (advantageous).
Experience:
- 0–1 year of relevant working experience.
Technical Knowledge:
- Proficiency in computer systems and laboratory information systems.
- Familiarity with organizational policies, laboratory standards, and procedures.

- Administrative skills with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Flexibility, patience, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Business numeracy and confidentiality.
- Telephone etiquette and empathy when interacting with clients.
Compensation:
Remuneration is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
