Job Title: Transport Planner
Location: Elandsfontein, Gauteng
Job Type: Full-time
Purpose of the Job:
To plan deliveries per route using the National Planning system and ensure the plan is executed accordingly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Route Planning:
- Ensure route planning is completed for loading by agreed-upon cutoff times.
- Optimise routes, resources, km, and time.
- Ensure planning is realistic to achieve the maximum delivery strike rate and productivity in line with depot KPIs.
- Scheduling & Reporting:
- Produce planning reports and schedules for dispatch.
- Ensure deliveries are planned according to service types and booking times.
- Maximise cube and weight utilisation per vehicle when not restricted.
- Update and action special requirements as directed by departments.
- Generate planning reports on vehicles used, km’s, and time for daily feedback meetings with operations teams.
- Operational Functions:
- Manage delivery point geo-locations in Plato.
- Assist in relevant operations/operational functions as required.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric).
- Qualification: Logistics or transport qualification is an advantage.
- Experience: Relevant planning experience is an advantage.
- Skills:
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office).
- Experience with FLO or Plato systems is required.
- Ability to complete administrative procedures with necessary directions and systems.
- Basic understanding of customer usage patterns and logistics calculations.
- Able to apply basic Health and Safety procedures relevant to own work functions.
- Ability to identify hazards and handle them with guidance.
