Job Overview:

Afrimat Cement Plant is looking for a skilled Handyman to assist with various maintenance tasks. The successful candidate will ensure that equipment, machinery, and pumps are in good working condition, follow safety protocols, and participate in general plant maintenance and good housekeeping.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

• Educational Qualifications:
  • Grade 12.
  • N2 Trade (Mechanical/Electrical) Certificate.
• Experience:
  • A minimum of 2 years of working experience in an engineering environment.
• Additional Requirements:
  • Must be medically fit to work on a mine.

Key Responsibilities:

• Risk Management:
  • Complete and sign a risk assessment before performing any job.
• Maintenance:
  • Grease all bearings according to the prescribed greasing schedule.
  • Check and maintain gearbox oil levels.
  • Monitor pumps, V-belts, motors, and bearings for potential failures.
  • Ensure all required pumps are functioning correctly.
  • Check and maintain water levels in dams, including performing water tests and releasing water when necessary.
  • Monitor dust suppression dams for correct water levels.
• Safety and Compliance:
  • Adhere to safety rules at all times, following the proper lockout procedures.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and maintain clean tools and work areas.
• General Duties:
  • Assist in daily plant maintenance tasks.
  • Install pipes and pump guards.
