Job Overview:

Afrimat Aggregates Operations is seeking an experienced Electrician / Millwright to carry out electrical and mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs within the mining environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and mechanical systems, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.


Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • Educational Qualifications:
    • Electrical qualification with a minimum of N3 and a wireman’s license.
  • Experience:
    • 3 to 5 years’ experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance.
    • Sound knowledge and understanding of the mining environment.
    • Knowledge of the legal aspects pertaining to quarry operations.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Must be medically fit according to the Mine Health and Safety Act and company standards.
    • Valid driver’s license.
    • Computer literate.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Planning and decision-making skills.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

Electrical Duties:

  • Execute daily electrical maintenance (PM maintenance scheduling).
  • Ensure all electrical equipment operates to required Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE).
  • Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot electrical systems, machinery, and equipment.
  • Identify causes of electrical dysfunctions and perform necessary repairs.
  • Comply with all electrical work standards (SANS0142).
  • Develop and implement electrical maintenance plans.
  • Complete required legal inspections and maintain the necessary SHE system.
  • Maintain and update all electrical drawings.

Millwright Duties:

  • Install, align, and dismantle heavy industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Inspect and maintain mechanical systems (pumps, conveyors, bearings, hydraulics).
  • Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis on mechanical breakdowns.
  • Ensure proper lubrication, alignment, and balance of machinery.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Adhere to the Mine Health and Safety Act and relevant legal requirements.
