Job Title: Forklift Technician
Location: Gauteng, Isando
Job Type: Full-time
Purpose of the Job:
To perform tasks such as the removal/stripping of vehicle parts, cleaning of spare parts and components, keeping the workstation and tools clean, and assembling spare parts and components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vehicle Evaluation & Repair:
- Evaluate/check vehicles for general defects before initiating repairs.
- Compile technical reports on the scope of repairs required.
- List spare parts required for repairs.
- Strip components from vehicles and assess parts for wear and damages.
- Clean and assess parts for reusability.
- Reassemble stripped components using new and used parts.
- Team Collaboration & Reporting:
- Identify systems on component failure and discuss findings with the team leader and workshop foreman.
- Record all findings on the job card.
- List all tasks performed, the spares used, and the time taken to complete each task on the job card.
- Maintenance & Efficiency:
- Service and repair vehicles to OE specifications and schedules.
- Perform standby/breakdown after-hour duties when required.
- Maintain acceptable productivity and efficiency levels.
- Training & Supervision:
- Monitor, train, and guide repair shop assistants and semi-skilled artisans.
- Safety & Housekeeping:
- Report unsafe working conditions or faulty equipment to team leaders/workshop foremen.
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Maintain professional conduct and a proper dress code as per company SOP.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in the workshop and ensure safety protocols are followed.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric).
- Qualifications: Red Seal Qualification.
- Experience: 2+ years of related experience in forklift maintenance and repair is advantageous.
