About the Role:
The Cashier serves as the first point of contact for customers in the store, ensuring excellent service while handling payments and maintaining an orderly front-of-house environment. The role involves receiving payments, issuing receipts, and assisting with operational and administrative tasks to support the smooth running of the store.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Interaction:
- Greet customers with a friendly smile, ensuring they feel valued and special.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve concerns promptly and professionally.
Cash Handling & POS Operations:
- Operate point-of-sale (POS) tills accurately and efficiently.
- Count cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to verify amounts and ensure sufficient change is available.
- Process payments via cash, cheques, or credit/debit cards, issue receipts, and provide appropriate change.
- Complete daily cash-ups and related paperwork accurately.
- Report and account for any discrepancies; shortfalls will be managed as per company policy.
Stock Management & Cleanliness:
- Ensure resale areas are stocked and displayed correctly, with fridges and shelves restocked daily.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness around the tills and the front-of-house area.
Operational Support:
- Assist the front-of-house and back-of-house teams with orders and operational tasks.
- Support cleaning duties during quieter periods.
- Prepare daily sales analysis reports.
- Coordinate end-of-shift cash-ups with the Admin Assistant or Admin Manager.
Skills and Competencies Required:
- Confidence and accuracy in handling cash and payments.
- Proficient in operating POS tills.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Detail-oriented and well-organized.
- Honest, responsible, and reliable.
- Friendly and customer-focused attitude.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12/Matric Certificate.
- 2-4 years of experience in a similar cashier role.
