Boxer Superstores is inviting applications from energetic and motivated individuals to join our KZN Distribution Centre in Lynnfield Park, Pietermaritzburg. We’re looking to fill 20 positions for General Workers across various roles within our Distribution Centre, including Receiving, Picking, Loading, Cycle Counting, Forklift Operation, Reach Truck Operation, Auditing, and Stock Combining. Key Responsibilities
General Workers are essential to the efficient functioning of our distribution centre. Depending on the assigned role, responsibilities will include:
1. General Worker
- Inventory Maintenance: Return overstocked, damaged, or short-dated items to designated areas, ensuring that all items are accurately documented.
- Stock Quality Control: Conduct checks on inventory to maintain quality and ensure compliance with storage standards.
2. Picker
- Order Picking: Accurately select items from shelves according to picking slips for store orders.
- Verification: Double-check selected items for accuracy, quantity, and quality to ensure orders meet store requirements.
3. Cycle Counter
- Stock Counting: Conduct regular inventory counts to ensure warehouse stock levels are accurate and discrepancies are identified.
- Documentation: Accurately record stock levels and report any inconsistencies to support ongoing inventory accuracy.
4. Forklift Driver
- Loading and Unloading: Safely operate a forklift to load and offload trucks and organize pallets within the distribution centre.
- Pallet Stacking: Arrange pallets in designated areas to optimize space usage and maintain an organized warehouse.
5. Reach Truck Driver
- High-Level Storage: Use a reach truck to store and retrieve items from high racks, ensuring safe operation and efficient space management.
- Inventory Placement: Ensure items are properly placed in their respective locations and accessible for future retrieval.
6. Auditor
- Inventory Audit: Conduct regular audits, including checking for damages, monitoring expiry dates, and verifying quantities before dispatching.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all items are in compliance with quality standards and ready for distribution.
7. Combiner
- Order Consolidation: Combine items on pallets to create complete store orders, organizing items according to delivery needs.
- Wrapping and Labelling: Use shrink-wrap to secure pallets and label them appropriately, preparing them for safe delivery to stores.
Minimum Requirements
To be eligible for a General Worker position at the Boxer KZN Distribution Centre, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Educational Requirements
- Grade 12 or National Certificate is mandatory for all applicants.
Experience
- Warehouse Experience: 0-2 years of experience in a warehouse or similar environment. Roles will be assigned based on the candidate’s experience level.
- Licenses: A valid Forklift or Reach Truck license is required for candidates applying for Forklift or Reach Truck Driver positions.
Skills and Attributes
- Attention to Detail: Strong accuracy and attention to detail in order-picking, inventory counting, and handling stock.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
- Team-Oriented: Work well within a team setting, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
