Role Clarification & Key Performance Areas:
The Information and Communication Services (ICS) Department at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) seeks a qualified Analyst Programmer to contribute to the Universityβs digital transformation strategy. The role is part of the ICS Applications Development and Support unit, focusing on creating and maintaining robust applications that meet the University’s business requirements.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the full software development lifecycle, from design and development to maintenance and support of existing and new applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC): Participate in all phases with a focus on development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Application Development: Create, maintain, and support new and existing applications and solutions based on business needs.
- Compliance: Ensure all solutions and enhancements adhere to best practices and guidelines.
- Work Estimation: Estimate development and implementation efforts and prepare Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
- Incident Response: Provide 1st line support for incident resolution or escalate issues as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: National Diploma or Advanced Certificate (NQF 6) or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years as a Software Developer, with a focus on Microsoft technologies, particularly .Net.
- Experience in Structured Environment: Proven experience working in a structured software development environment.
Competencies:
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Analytical thinking and attention to detail.
- Ability to engage with stakeholders effectively.
- A collaborative team player with a drive to resolve issues quickly.
- Understanding of vendor service level requirements.
- Proactive approach to resolving campus community issues.
Advantageous Skills:
- Mobile App Development (iOS/Android).
- Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
- Power BI Reporting.
- Data Modelling and Cataloguing.
- Familiarity with Angular, .Net Core, and .Net 6.0.
- Experience with Cloud Technologies.
