Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a proactive Casual Frontshop Assistant for their Laguna Mall store in Langebaan. The successful candidate will uphold our high merchandising standards, support customer service at the point of sale, and adhere to Dis-Chem’s operational policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain full product ranges on shelves, ensuring items are neatly displayed and within sell-by dates.
- Restock shelves and merchandise as needed to drive maximum sales.
- Respond to out-of-stock queries and ensure prompt follow-ups.
- Ensure all delivered stock and items from the storeroom are stored and packed correctly.
- Accurately process customer payments through cash, cards, vouchers, and other accepted payment methods.
- Process loyalty cards, including rewards from partners such as eBucks, Discovery Health, and Momentum Multiply.
- Manage and report any stock discrepancies, damaged or expired goods, and ensure compliance with stock control procedures.
- Handle and resolve customer queries, complaints, and returns, maintaining excellent customer relations.
- Ensure all cash flow is securely managed in accordance with company procedures.
- Assist with stock loading and unloading when required, ensuring all tasks are done safely and efficiently.
- Adhere to health and safety standards and ensure that all housekeeping is in line with Dis-Chem’s regulations.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12/Matric or Senior Certificate.
- 0-6 months of retail work experience.
Advantageous Qualifications:
- 1 year of work experience in retail.
- Certification in Retail Business Management.
Competencies and Skills:
- Strong understanding of retail operations and administration.
- Excellent numerical skills and proficiency in basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Strong verbal communication skills, enabling you to effectively interact with customers and address queries in a timely manner.
- Ability to identify solutions to potential problems and escalate issues when necessary.
- Time management and ability to achieve tasks with little oversight.
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with SAP.
Special Conditions of Employment:
- Must be able to work retail hours (including weekends and public holidays).
- South African citizenship with a clear criminal record and credit rating.
