Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking to build a Talent Pool of Casual Cashiers for its Fountain Est store in Jeffrey’s Bay. This strategic initiative aims to create a pre-screened group of qualified candidates for upcoming vacancies, ensuring a rapid hiring process when roles become available.
Purpose of the Role:
Provide exceptional customer service at the point of sale, maintaining a world-class shopping experience. You will be responsible for recording transactions on Dis-Chem’s system while adhering to strict policies on accuracy, fraud prevention, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately process customer transactions, including cash handling, card payments, and loyalty card processing.
- Maintain strict cash register controls and ensure all outgoing items are scanned and paid for.
- Handle sales, refunds, and customer complaints in line with Dis-Chem’s customer service policies.
- Process loyalty cards for partners including Discovery Health Care, Momentum Multiply, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks.
- Ensure cash flow is managed securely, with all cash placed in the drop safe according to standard operating procedures.
- Report any suspicious activities and security concerns to management.
- Maintain a professional relationship with customers, providing a seamless shopping experience.
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric/Grade 12 qualification.
- 6 months’ experience in cashier/till operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Strong numeracy skills and customer service focus.
- Ability to work flexible retail hours, including weekends.
Competencies:
- Advanced knowledge of cash registers and maintaining cash drawers.
- Accuracy and attention to detail in all customer transactions.
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English (additional languages advantageous).
- Time management and multi-tasking skills.
- Presentable, trustworthy, and proactive in problem-solving.
Special Conditions of Employment:
- Ability to work retail hours (including weekends and public holidays).
- Reliable transport or residence close to the store location.
- Clear credit and criminal records.
- South African citizenship required.
