Purpose of the Role:
Provide excellent customer service at the point of sale, ensuring that transactions are processed accurately and efficiently. This position also involves maintaining a high standard of security and compliance with Dis-Chem’s operating procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process customer transactions, including cash handling, card payments, and loyalty card processing.
- Ensure accuracy in sales, refunds, and price changes, adhering to company policies to reduce fraud risk.
- Support customer service by addressing queries and maintaining a professional relationship with customers.
- Stay informed about promotions and loyalty programs such as Discovery Health Care, Momentum Multiply, eBucks, ABSA Rewards, and more.
- Follow Dis-Chem’s security policies and report any suspicious behavior to management.
- Ensure cash is securely handled and placed in the drop safe as per company procedures.
- Maintain the confidentiality of daily takings and discuss details only with management.
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric/Grade 12 qualification.
- 6 months of experience in cashier/till operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong numerical skills.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of a third language is advantageous.
Competencies:
- Strong cash register and cash drawer management skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail in all transactions.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers.
- Time management and ability to work under pressure.
- Trustworthy, honest, and capable of maintaining strict security protocols.
