Company Overview:
Kia South Africa is seeking a Qualified Technician to join its team in Roodepoort. The ideal candidate will have experience in automotive diagnostics and a solid understanding of modern vehicle technology. This role is essential in ensuring accurate vehicle repairs and maintenance, enhancing customer satisfaction, and meeting manufacturer service standards.

Job Purpose:

To perform diagnostic work, provide mechanical support, and execute repairs accurately and efficiently. The technician will be responsible for delivering a high standard of vehicle servicing and ensuring customer satisfaction by fixing vehicles right the first time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct vehicle diagnostics and support mechanics as directed by the Foreman.
  • Perform fault diagnosis to expedite vehicle service.
  • Ensure that vehicle services are completed within manufacturer time standards.
  • Communicate effectively with service advisors and customers, providing clear explanations of work done.
  • Ensure vehicle care and safety standards are upheld while performing maintenance tasks.
  • Return vehicles to customers in a neat and clean condition after servicing.
  • Complete relevant OEM training (online, classroom, or other mediums) within set timelines.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as completing service forms and reports.
  • Mentor apprentices, sign off on their logbooks, and assess their technical capabilities.
  • Participate in company marketing initiatives when required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Technician with 3-5 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Previous Kia technician experience is advantageous.
  • Relevant OEM product training is a plus.
  • Proven track record of “fix right the first time.”
  • Proficient in using manufacturer diagnostic equipment and computer systems to access technical information.
  • Mechanical insight, with strong problem-solving and vehicle fault-finding skills.
  • Valid and unendorsed South African driver’s license.

  • Awareness of Occupational Health & Safety standards.
  • Knowledge of automotive products and services.
  • Ability to gather and apply technical information.
