Purpose of the Job:
The Specialist: Employee Relations is responsible for providing specialized advice and guidance on employee relations issues within the Road Accident Fund (RAF), reporting directly to the Senior Manager: Employee Relations.
Key Performance Areas:
1. Employee Relations:
- Offer expert advice on Human Capital (HC) and Employee Relations (ER) compliance, particularly related to the Labour Relations Act and conditions of service.
- Develop and implement employee relations processes and procedures to manage workplace conflict and address deviations.
- Advise on labour unrest and effective resolution approaches.
- Facilitate conflict resolution to ensure fair and amicable outcomes.
- Support collective bargaining processes regarding salaries, working conditions, benefits, and workers’ rights.
- Provide guidance on disciplinary and grievance procedures, basic service conditions, and compliance with regulations like the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act and the Staff Manual.
2. Policy Review and Implementation:
- Contribute to developing and executing departmental policies, procedures, and processes.
- Stay updated on best practices in policy execution.
3. Reporting:
- Compile and submit Employee Relations reports as required to provide progress updates for management decisions.
- Align reports, policies, and procedures with RAF’s overall strategy.
- Develop systems for management and performance reporting.
- Prepare briefings, presentations, and reports to provide information to management in both verbal and written formats.
4. Stakeholder Management:
- Manage communication with internal and external stakeholders related to investments.
- Build and maintain proactive relationships with stakeholders.
- Ensure relationships with vendors and service providers are well-managed, including timely invoicing and payments.
- Communicate effectively at all levels of stakeholder interaction.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree/Advanced Diploma in Employee Relations, Labour Relations, or Human Resource Management.
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in human resource management or employee relations.
