Job Overview:
This is a live-in position at a safari lodge in Kruger National Park, with accommodation and meals provided on-site. The HR Manager will oversee all aspects of HR management, staff development, and wellness at the property. The position works on a 6 weeks on / 2 weeks off cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- HR Management:
- Liaise with the General Manager and MORE HR team on property operations.
- Act as a key ambassador of the MORE brand.
- Oversee management personnel, ensuring standards are met.
- Conduct and follow up on departmental and one-on-one meetings with managers and HODs.
- Handle all staff queries and grievances constructively.
- Manage disciplinary, grievance, and wage negotiation processes.
- Oversee accurate recording of leave, overtime, and HR administrative documentation.
- Ensure adherence to Health & Safety and Security procedures.
- Oversee recruitment, induction, and exit processes.
- Manage payroll functions.
- Development and Staff Management:
- Identify and develop potential leaders.
- Implement internal and external training programs.
- Facilitate cross-property training.
- Drive performance management and succession planning processes.
- Conduct meaningful performance appraisals and follow up on developmental plans.
- Facilitate training sessions and assess training effectiveness.
- Succession Planning:
- Assess training needs for employees.
- Identify internal and external programs for skill development.
- Develop personalized development plans for employees.
- Staff Wellness and Events:
- Manage and run wellness programs, staff events, and social initiatives.
- Liaise with medical professionals for on-site staff consultations.
- Organize staff wellness programs related to health, exercise, and mental well-being.
- Plan annual staff functions and sports events.
- Community Engagement:
- Build and support partnerships with the community to represent the property positively.
Requirements, Qualifications, and Skills:
- 5+ years of senior HR management experience.
- Strong knowledge of local labor law and HR administration processes.
- Familiarity with training, cultural diversity, and wellness programs.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, SAGE 300 People (beneficial), and ATS recruitment systems (beneficial).
- Experience with disciplinary procedures, CCMA, and labor unions.
