Job Description:
The Local Blockman assists the Butchery Manager in preparing products, cutting meat, and manufacturing according to specifications. The role also involves administrative duties and staff supervision.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of butchery experience.
  • Proficiency in cutting, packing, manufacturing, and merchandising all butchery products.
  • Ability to operate butchery equipment effectively.
  • Strong customer service skills with a passion for butchery products.
  • High energy levels and excellent personal hygiene.
  • Knowledge of food safety, safe work procedures, and the Health and Safety Act.
  • Ability to quickly grasp and apply new information.
  • Familiarity with Pick ‘n Pay values, culture, and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing and cutting meat products.
  • Ensure proper packaging and manufacturing in accordance with specifications.
  • Operate and maintain butchery equipment.
  • Provide friendly and knowledgeable customer service.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and food safety in the butchery.
  • Support and supervise staff as needed.
  • Adhere to butchery equipment manuals, SOPs, and house rules.
