Job Overview:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Despatcher to join the Mega Bus – Kuruman team. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the despatch function, ensuring the efficient planning, coordination, and management of daily operations within the department. This role requires strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administrative Tasks: Handle various administrative duties, including supervising and controlling driver activities.
• Driver Briefing/Debriefing: Manage the briefing and debriefing of drivers, particularly in the loading and offloading processes.
• Load Scheduling: Efficiently schedule loads and dispatch vehicles while monitoring progress and utilization.
• Trip Sheet Analysis: Analyze trip sheets to ensure accurate dispatching and to optimize fleet management.
• Support to Management: Provide assistance and support to management in all aspects of dispatch operations.
• ADHOC Duties: Manage additional duties such as using the Edge Telematics System for vehicle tracking and monitoring.

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: Grade 12 (National Certificate); a tertiary qualification in Logistics/Transportation Management or progress towards this qualification is an advantage.
• Experience: At least 2 years of experience in the transport industry with hands-on involvement in all areas of business operations.
• Licenses: Valid Code 14 driver’s license.
• Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical, proactive, and organizational skills.
  • Innovative thinking and the ability to implement new ideas.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, particularly MS Office and Outlook.
