Role Overview:
The DC Accountant is responsible for managing financial systems, procedures, and controls to ensure the provision of accurate and reliable information. This role involves safeguarding assets, interpreting financial data, facilitating budget implementation, and providing financial and commercial support to ensure optimal customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage financial systems, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with SOPs and internal controls.
- Oversee audits and ensure corrective actions are taken where necessary.
- Implement and control the ABC system, extracting and interpreting management information.
- Prepare and present monthly operational reports and performance evaluations.
- Coordinate and monitor performance against budgets, identify variances, and implement corrective action plans.
- Manage Capex control, fixed asset registers, and conduct regular physical verifications.
- Ensure timely clearance of credit claims and manage the credit return process.
- Coordinate payroll inputs, including staff loans, leave records, and overtime.
- Provide financial and commercial support to division and management teams on operational issues.
- Oversee overall financial planning, policies, internal controls, and accounting practices.
- Appraise operating results, analyze costs, and identify profit opportunities.
- Review financial performance, including balance sheets and cash flow, in accordance with GAAP and South African reporting standards.
- Manage VAT, company tax, deferred tax, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Prepare annual budgets and statutory reporting packs for corporate submission.
- Support and guide Depot accountants and ensure effective financial control measures are in place.
- Ensure compliance with Group and local statutory accounting rules and requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Matric / Grade 12 Certificate.
- Chartered Management Accountant / Diploma in Cost and Management Accounting.
- B. Com with Management / Cost Accounting experience in an operational environment.
- CA qualification preferred.
- Experience in managing operational performance, resolving order queries, and meeting KPIs.
Languages:
- Fluent in English (verbal and written).
