Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Cashbook Clerk to join our Working Capital HO division in Kenilworth/Brackenfell, Western Cape. In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate classification and recording of financial transactions, maintaining accounting records, and assisting with bank reconciliations and reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cashbook functions, excellent numeric skills, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cashbook Management: Handle cash book entries, including direct payments, prepayments, and petty cash management.
- Reconciliations: Perform reconciliations of all accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Payment and Receipt Allocation: Accurately allocate payments and receipts, including staff reimbursements.
- Forex and Itrade Management: Manage inward forex release and assist with Itrade transactions.
- Cashflow Forecasting: Prepare accurate daily and weekly cashflow forecasts to support financial planning and decision-making.
- General Ledger Management: Post, check, and proof entries to the general ledger and accounts.
- Account Analysis: Analyze and audit various accounts, ensuring proper coding and account identification.
- Support Accounts Payable: Verify and process accounts payable as needed.
Qualifications & Skills Required:
- Education: Matric (Grade 12) with a National Certificate.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a cashbook function. Previous exposure to financial systems such as CS3 or SAGE is advantageous.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and strong numeric skills.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks.
- Independence: Ability to work independently without supervision.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities to address financial discrepancies and challenges.
