Description:

We are seeking a trustworthy and efficient Financial Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing best practice accounting operational systems, ensuring the integrity of the financial accounting function, and adhering to company policies, business plans, strategies formulated by Exco, and legislative requirements under the guidance of the Manager Finance: Financial Services.

This role requires a solid grasp of accounting and financial practices, regulations, and strong computer skills, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain financial reporting systems and report on all financial activities, including budget variances.
  • Implement and maintain financial administration systems and internal controls.
  • Establish and maintain budgeting systems, assist in monthly management accounts, annual financial statements, and related audits.
  • Support the Financial Manager in managing the budget and controlling departmental expenditure within agreed allocations.
  • Supervise the human resources of the department and ensure the effective functioning of the team.
  • General and ad-hoc functions including:
    • Daily approval and release of loan advance batches from the Loan Management System (LMS).
    • Daily reconciliation of loan receipts and LMS system’s lending balances with the general ledger.
    • Daily reconciliation of current, disbursement, and collections bank accounts.
    • Daily cashflow monitoring and cashflow projection/requirements.
    • Approval of suppliers on the Creditor Management System (CMS) and invoices/payments on Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) platforms.
    • Weekly follow-up on unapproved invoices and payments.
    • Managing customer service and data capturing within the Financial Service team.

Requirements:

  • Matric.
  • 3-year degree in Accounting (B.Com, BCompt, or B. Tech in Administrative Management Financial).
  • At least 2 years of relevant financial experience after completing articles signed off by SAICA/SAIPA.
  • Sufficient supervisory experience.
