Job Description:

RCL FOODS is looking for a skilled Miller to join the Baking Division in Pretoria West. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and cost-effective operation of all mills, maintaining product quality, and meeting daily targets and measurements. This role reports directly to the Head Miller.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operational Tasks – Roller Mills:
  • Perform weekly break releases on Wheat Mills.
  • Prevent stock buildup on roll feed plates.
  • Inspect and replace scrapers and roll brushes as needed per shift.
  • Ensure roll hopper exhausts function properly during each shift.
• Plansifter Maintenance:
  • Execute maintenance according to requirements and schedules.
  • Replace burst covers during shifts.
  • Ensure inlet/outlet sleeves on sifters and purifiers are intact.
  • Keep screens of turbo sieves on the Germ system clean and the machine inside maintained.
• Purifiers Maintenance:
  • Maintain purifier brushes and keep air tunnels on top of machines clean.
  • Ensure covers are taut and not blocked.
  • Properly set and operate concentrators and maize mill aspirators.
• Aspiration and Exhaust Systems:
  • Monitor manometer readings on all filters.
  • Ensure pneumatic hammer and pulsing units are operational.
  • Maintain heater banks at correct temperatures.
• General Milling Operations:
  • Perform routine checks to ensure efficient operation of milling machines.
  • Ensure correct flour stocks are available as required by the scheduling system.
  • Maintain performance rates of 95% on all mills.
• Quality Control:
  • Conduct Pekar tests twice per shift on all finished products.
  • Test and record finished products using the Diode Array machine.
  • Ensure that all finished products meet agreed quality specifications.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste.

Minimum Requirements:

• Qualified Miller, trade tested in maize milling technologies (experience with Wheat and Maize preferred).
• Minimum of 3 years of milling experience in a high-capacity plant.
• Fumigation and Grading Certification.
• Advanced milling qualifications are an advantage.
