Job Description:

RCL Foods is seeking an energetic individual to join the maintenance department as a Maintenance Clerk. This role involves assisting with the maintenance of plant and buildings, ensuring a high level of hygiene, cleanliness, quality, and service. The maintenance services include the servicing and maintenance of machinery, equipment, welding, fabrication, pneumatics, and hydraulics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Health and Safety:
  • Adhere to health, safety, and food safety procedures at all times.
• Maintenance Support:
  • Assist the maintenance technician in completing planned and preventative maintenance schedules on time.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns, working with the maintenance technician to repair machinery quickly and safely.
  • Assist with building and facility maintenance tasks.
  • Participate in special projects as needed.
• Workshop and Tool Management:
  • Ensure that the toolbox is fully stocked and maintained in a clean, hygienic state.
  • Keep the maintenance workshop clean and tidy, with all items stored in their correct places.
• Administrative Duties:
  • Complete tasks as per the job card issued and obtain sign-off from the technician once the job is completed.
• Food Safety:
  • Adhere to company food safety guidelines and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Ensure all work areas are clean and free from contamination after maintenance work is completed.

Minimum Requirements:

• Education:
  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • Currently working towards N3 and N4 qualifications.
• Skills:
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English.
  • Good numeracy skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and follow specified procedures.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of practical experience as a maintenance assistant, preferably in a production environment.
  • Experience in a bakery background is advantageous.
  • Mechanical or electrical experience is required.

• Strong attention to detail.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.

• Maintain housekeeping standards.
• Execute instructions related to plant and machinery maintenance.
