
I’m looking for Advocacy and Communications Officer Vacancy for Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation
The Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation (DLTLF) is looking for someone who can support the Advocacy and Communications Manager in implementing the communications strategy to increase the standing and awareness of the Foundation’s work with partners, the media, and the public. They will also work in supporting the organisation’s Advocacy for Societal Healing programme. The role is based at The Old Granary in District Six, Cape Town.
We are looking for someone who is an excellent communicator, has a solution-oriented approach to work and is passionate about social justice issues, leadership, and the preservation of South African history.
Location: Cape Town, Western Cape
Communications Support
Support in the development and preparation of communications materials for marketing and promotional opportunities
Manage relationships with service providers including: videographers, graphic designers, printers, external agencies etc
Write and ensure quality copy for the Foundation’s website
Ensure website it up to date
Assist with producing content for our monthly newsletter
Assist in producing the Foundation’s annual report
Assist in collating content from programme teams to be shared with the social media team
Advocacy for Societal Healing Programme Support
Provide planning and logistical support for the Foundation’s activities, workshops and events
Assistance in planning the Annual Desmond Tutu International Peace Lecture
Support manager in the delivery of agreed advocacy objectives and outputs
Perform other duties as required
Qualifications and Requirements
A relevant bachelor’s degree
Minimum two years in a similar role
Strong communications skills, excellent editing and writing skills
Strong project planning skills with proven ability to organise and prioritise tasks
Proven knowledge and interest in social justice, issues facing marginalised communities and/or South African history
Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and basic knowledge of Canva
Strong project planning skills with proven ability to organise and prioritise tasks and to manage own time efficiently
Ability to work well under pressure, independently and with others
Attention to detail
Teamwork and people skills
